NI Census: National Identity

This map was compiled by The Detail using data from the 2011 Census in Northern Ireland, which was held on March 27 2011. The map shows national identity - broken down by council area. We mapped the data using the address of each council's headquarters. The overall figures for Northern Ireland show 39.9% of residents describe themselves as British, 25.2% Irish, 20.9% Northern Irish, 0.7% British and Irish, 6.2% British and Northern Irish, 1% Irish and Northern Irish, 1% British, Irish and Northern Irish and 5% 'other'.
